Jeremic said on Fox television that
yesterday at the Security Council was a successful day for Serbia and added that Serbia made it clear that it wants to be a constructive partner in pacifying the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
A presidential statement offered by Russia did not get the necessary nine, but eight votes, but that should not be discouraging since we have a clear strategy on what we want to achieve concerning Kosovo-Metohija, the minister said.
He said that the vote was eight to seven, which shows that the majority in the Security Council favours Serbia.
Jeremic said that talks between Belgrade and Pristina will be continued if it is proved that the current policy of interim authorities in Pristina and a number of countries that support it is not successful.
That is why it is important that the number of countries recognising the unilateral independence of Kosovo does not increase and that the province does not join international organisations.
To that end, Serbia will fight an active diplomatic battle and get in contact with international organisations such as the Arab League, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, Jeremic said.
As far as the Stabilisation and Association Agreement is concerned, Jeremic said that the government will make efforts by the end of the month for the agreement to be signed, which is, according to him, of crucial importance for Serbia's European future and peace and stability in the region.
