In a statement to the Vecernje Novosti daily, Kostunica said that all parliamentary parties and all state institutions clearly and undoubtedly affirmed that Serbia should be an equal member of the EU.
Following the declaration of independence by the fictitious Kosovo state on February 17 and the EU’s decision to illegally send the EULEX mission to implement Ahtisaari’s rejected plan, a question has rightfully arose in Serbia; within which borders will the EU recognise Serbia, stressed the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister noted that it is a burning question, particularly now that the European Commission has concluded that Pristina declared independence and ignored the fact that the Serbian government and Serbian parliament annulled the illegal declaration of the fictitious state.
State institutions and Serbian citizens demand an answer to the crucial question – within which borders does the EU recognise the Serbian state. Every agreement between Serbia and the EU implies that both sides know where Serbian borders are, he said.
According to Kostunica, it is time that Olli Rehn officially declared which Serbian borders the EU will respect when signing the agreement between Serbia and the EU.
If we are partners and if Serbia is to become an EU member, then this must be resolved immediately. Therefore, it is important to have Olli Rehn’s reply to the question of whether in the agreements to be signed with Serbia the EU respects the territorial integrity of our country, concluded Kostunica.
