Predrag Bubalo
A textile agreement is most likely to take effect on Jan 1, 2005, Bubalo told the Beta news agency. The Minister, however, could not estimate the size of textile export revenues in 2005, warning that Serbia will face difficult times restoring its place in the EU market.
Bubalo recalled that the EU has applied quotas on textile imports from Serbia, noting that the restoration of preferential treatment for the import of Serbian sugar has paved the way for signing a textile accord.
He said that Serbia has already meet its quotas for this year, adding that the EU may approve new quotas by the end of 2004 as a gesture of good will and support for the country’s textile sector.
Bubalo went on to say that textile negotiations have been completed, adding that he expects the accord to be initialed early this fall.
