Serbian Minister of Trade and Services Predrag Bubalo said after the signing of the protocol that there are many reasons for optimism regarding the work done, and there will be many more if most of what has been agreed upon is implemented.
We have created opportunities for many businesses, above all, those in the areas of the pharmaceutical and food industries, but also for others, such as Ikarbus, Trayal and Simpo, said the Minister.
According to Bubalo, the working group supported the further liberalisation of trade between Serbia and Russia, as one of the basic conditions for intensifying economic cooperation between the two countries, and the Serbia has taken on the obligation to do intensive work on readying domestic fruit and vegetable producers for delivering these products to Moscow.
Bubalo said that the protocol obliges the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and the Moscow City Food Resources Department to help businesses develop cooperation in the area of delivering fruits and vegetables to the market in Moscow.
Representatives of the Food Resources Department expressed a willingness to help Serbian producers and exporters of food, wine and non-alcoholic beverages in the direct delivery of products to retail chains in Moscow, said the Minister.
The government of Moscow will ask Russian federal authorities to speed up the process of recognising veterinary and phytosanitary certificates and to increase the number of licences available for international freight forwarders between Serbia and Russia, Bubalo said.
The Agency for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) made a deal on cooperation with the Moscow Department for Support and Development of Small Entrepreneurship, Bubalo noted.
The governments of Serbia and Moscow expressed readiness to reconsider two projects. The building of a Serbian trade centre in Moscow and a Moscow trade centre in Belgrade, he said.
The Protocol also envisions a continuation of cooperation between the Serbian Ministry of Health and the Moscow Department for Health Care, Bubalo added.
The Serbian delegation also included Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Slobodan Milosavljevic, Belgrade Deputy Mayor Radmila Hrustanovic and PKS president Milos Bugarin, as well as representatives of a number of Serbian companies.
The next meeting of the working group will take place in 2009 in Belgrade.
