Appearing on RTV B92, Jeremic said that the violence which occurred will be the only item on the agenda of tomorrow’s session, and added that what happened on the streets of Belgrade is absolutely impermissible and has harmed our diplomatic efforts.
According to Jeremic, the vandalism was in no way encouraged by state organs.
He said that the Serbian authorities today harmonised a joint strategic approach with a high level Russian delegation so that the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo-Metohija is annulled.
Serbia and Russia have a joint policy and our strategy is that after it is proven that it is impossible to affirm the sovereignty of the so called state Kosovo, both sides return to the negotiating table, said Jeremic and added that a tough diplomatic battle lies ahead.
The Minister said that currently Serbia is making efforts to ensure that the least number of countries possible recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija so that in September, at the session of the UN General Assembly it becomes obvious that the majority of countries do not support the illegal secession of the province.
He said that the EU, as a whole, has not recognised the independence of Kosovo-Metohija and Serbia is fighting to keep the number of countries who do so at a minimum, and recalled that full EU membership continues to be one of the priorities of the Serbian government.
