Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said that the protest in Belgrade which gathered almost half a million of people passed off peacefully and that those were peaceful demonstrations, while incidents that occurred afterwards were isolated acts of vandalism and violence.
In a statement to CNN last night, Jeremic voiced regret over the incidents that took place after the peaceful demonstrations against the independence of Kosovo-Metohija and said that authorities in Serbia do not expect more violence to take place.
The minister said that Serbia has repeated many times that every solution to Kosovo-Metohija that is not peaceful, mutually acceptable and based on compromise will jeopardise stability.
Referring to the possibility of the violence spreading to Kosovo-Metohija, the minister underlined that Serbia is a responsible participant in the peace and stability in the region and that it wants to cooperate with the international community in securing full stability.
