Jeremic said at a press conference, held after his speech before the Political Affairs Committee of the European parliament, said that this act is unacceptable for Serbia and that Serbia will fight with all its means, in all international organisations it has access to and in which Serbia's voice can be heard, for this illegal act to be revoked.
He said that Serbia's relations with the EU will be influenced by the fact that some European countries recognised the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
Answering the questions of European members of the Political Affairs Committee, the minister said that he does not see how the decision of some countries to accept the illegal act of the unilateral proclamation of independence by Kosovo can speed up Serbia’s efforts to get closer to the EU and meet the will of Serbian citizens expressed at the latest presidential elections.
He underlined that scheduling consultations with ambassadors of Serbia in the countries which accepted Kosovo is just a first step and that Serbia will progressively invoke diplomatic, political and economic measures against countries that recognise the illegal secession of its territory.
Every democratic country in the world that has pride would do that. Every country that is represented in this parliament would do that. We are sorry, but you did not leave us any other choice, Jeremic told European MPs.
The minister also said that some European countries unwillingly decided to recognise Kosovo because of the enormous pressure from the US, adding that we all know the results of the US administration, which is probably the worst in the history of this country.
