Milivoje Mihajlovic
Appearing on RTV B92, Mihajlovic said that each broken window at this moment only speaks in favour of those trying to separate Kosovo from Serbia.
More cautious actions need to be taken to keep Kosovo-Metohija within Serbia, he said noting that priorities will include economic aid to Serbs living in the province so that they can live and stay there.
Mihajlovic said that Kosovo has been divided for nine years now, adding that such a division “hanging in the air” is a bad solution both for Serbs and Serbia as well as for the whole region.
He noted that the main motivation of the nearly 120,000 Serbs currently living in Kosovo-Metohija is the fight for survival and stressed that Serbs living in enclaves are in a much worse position than those living in the north of the province.
According to him, Serbs living in enclaves should communicate with KFOR and UNMIK, as at the moment they are their only protectors in the case violence escalates.
Mihajlovic pointed out that the aim of tomorrow’s mass protest in Belgrade is to channel the discontent and anger, to peacefully show to the world that Serbia does not accept an independent Kosovo, adding that this rally should be held with dignity and should show the stance of the Serbian state.
The mass protest will take place on February 21 at 5 pm in front of the House of Parliament. After the protest, those gathered will walk to the Saint Sava Church, where Serbian Orthodox Church dignitaries will hold a prayer service at 7 pm.
