Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said that Serbian authorities immediately after the unilateral proclamation of independence of the Serbian southern province, have requested urgent sessions of the UN Security Council, the OSCE Permanent Council and the Council of Europe (CoE) Committee of Ministers.
Jeremic told news agency Tanjug that these sessions will take place at the beginning of next week.
Only a few minutes after the illegal proclamation of independence of the so-called independent state of Kosovo, an act that clearly violates the Constitution of Serbia and that clearly violates UN Security Council Resolution 1244, the UN Charter and all other acts of international law, Serbia requested an urgent session of the UN Security Council and it will be held on February 18 in New York, the Minister said.
He said that Serbian President Boris Tadic will represent Serbia at the UN Security Council and will request that the illegal decision of Pristina’s interim institutions be made null and void and will seek the support of the Security Council and the world organisation to protect Serbia’s territorial integrity under the UN Charter and every affirmative act of international law.
Jeremic repeated that Serbia will fight with all diplomatic means against this illegal act and its international legalisation.
According to him, Serbia requested the urgent session of the OSCE Permanent Council for Tuesday and CoE Committee of Ministers for Wednesday.
The Minister pointed out that at every international forum, everywhere where it can, Serbia will fight against international legitimisation of this illegal act by using all legal, diplomatic and political means.
