Djelic told news agency Tanjug that this is a moment of injustice not only for the Serbian people and those in the Serbian southern province who are loyal to Serbia, but this is also an injustice done to the international system that was created with great difficulties after the Second World War.
According to Djelic, politicians in Serbia at this moment must be united, but also wise in choosing the most suitable ways to defend the state’s interest in Kosovo-Metohija.
It is best to fight for Kosovo by legal means, first by annulling this decision, like the Serbian government did on February 14, and like parliament will do tomorrow, but also by finding ways to further strengthen our country, the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
He noted that only a strong Serbia, integrated into international systems, is in a position to defend its state interest everywhere and at all forums, and also to avail of the strength of its economy and institutions to defend Kosovo.
Djelic stressed that Serbia must not react to this injustice through self-isolation, and added that it would be a mistake to take that route as it would weaken Serbia and its institutions and disable any stronger form of support to our citizens in Kosovo-Metohija loyal to Serbia.
