Samardzic calls on Serbs to remain in Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic called on Serbs and other non-Albanians today to remain in Kosovo-Metohija despite the announcement of interim institutions of self-government of Kosovo that they will declare independence and told them that Serbia will stand by them.

Samardzic said at a press conference at the offices of the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija in Kosovska Mitrovica that Serbia will never recognise independence of Kosovo-Metohija, and as soon as Monday, February 18, ministers and representatives of the Serbian government will be in the southern Serbian province every day in order to provide normal living conditions for Serbs and other non-Albanians who consider Serbia their state.
He reiterated that Serbia will never recognise the decision of interim institution of self-government of Kosovo to declare independence, nor the mission of the European Union, because they are illegal and illegitimate.
Samardzic pointed out that declaration of independence, announced for today afternoon, is violation of international law and the UN Charter and that owing to that, every secessionism will be considered a normal thing from now on.
All processes of secessions will be ready to be used at a favourable moment, Samardzic concluded.
