Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic said today that the EU’s decision, formalised in urgent procedure, to send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija is shameful, and it shows that the EU accepts the policy of secession and recognises the independence of the province which is an inalienable part of Serbia.
In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Samardzic said that the EU made this decision in urgent procedure in a secretive atmosphere.
The contents of this decision are shameful for the EU because they are practically recognition of the independence of Kosovo-Metohija which is an integral part of Serbia, stressed Samardzic.
He said that by this decision the EU accepts the policy of secession as a way of resolving issues of ethnic minorities and has proven itself to be a weak international organisation prone to violating its own rules and the international law, and susceptible to serving the United States’ foreign policy interests.
Due to this reason, Serbia will need to reexamine its relations with the EU and those of its member states who might recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija, said the Minister.
