Djelic confirmed that Serbia will never recognise Kosovo-Metohija’s independence and that it will strive to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity by peaceful and diplomatic means.
The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister reminded the ambassadors of EU member states that the arrival of an EU mission to Kosovo-Metohija is possible only if a decision is made in the UN Security Council, and pointed to Serbia's principled stance on the respect of international law.
Other topics at the meeting were Serbia's European future, steps leading to abolishment of the visa regime and acquisition of EU candidate status by the end of 2008, and an increase in EU funding for Serbia in 2009.
