In a statement given to the news agency Tanjug following the signing of the agreement, Petrovic said that talks with Ustinov were held in a cordial atmosphere and the friendly relations between Russia and Serbia once again affirmed.
He said that it was stressed at the meeting that Russia’s support in resolving the issue of Kosovo-Metohija and safeguarding Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty is extremely important for Serbia.
According to Petrovic, the necessity of signing new agreements in the area of international legal aid was discussed, as well as the need to improve relations between the prosecutor’s offices of the two countries regarding cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
Talking about the agreement signed today, Petrovic said that it is a framework agreement which will lead to closer cooperation between the two ministries, courts, prosecutor’s offices, better exchange of information and experts, as well as the organisation of all kinds of joint educational groups.
Growing economic cooperation and trade between Serbia and Russia also demand wider international legal aid, and the signing of this agreement will make it more efficient, said the Justice Minister.
