Illegal EU mission to Kosovo jeopardises Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity directly

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today, commenting on the statement of Serbian President Boris Tadic, that the European Union has jeopardised Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity directly with its decision to illegally send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija with the aim of implementing Ahtisaari's plan of monitored independence in the province.

"At the same time, the EU offered Serbia to sign the political agreement, which means that with one move, it wants to snatch away 15% of Serbia’s territory, and with another to offer it a political agreement. I believe that every citizen of Serbia sees that this is unscrupulous blackmail and that by signing the offered political agreement Serbia would actually sign Kosovo's independence.

Therefore, it is necessary that Serbian parliament convenes immediately so that parliament members can make a declaration concerning the EU’s decision to send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija. Considering the fact that the EU has put Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty in jeopardy, it is the constitutional duty of parliament speaker Oliver Dulic to call an urgent parliament session, before Albanian separatists, with the support of the EU and the US make a unilateral declaration of independence.

In order to schedule a parliament session it is not necessary to consult the Serbian government, which is deeply divided regarding this question,” reads the statement by the Serbian Prime Minister.
