Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today at a meeting with Finnish Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairman Ilkka Kanerva that the EU’s decision to send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija grossly violates the UN Charter, Resolution 1244 and the Serbian Constitution.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that this decision by the EU also jeopardises Serbia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order.
Kostunica said that the EU is offering Serbia a political agreement and at the same time has made the decision to send a mission to Kosovo-Metohjia which means that by signing the agreement Serbia would in fact accept the province’s independence, and become the first country to indirectly recognise the independence of Kosovo-Metohija.
Kanerva said that the OSCE’s priority is to stay in Kosovo-Metohija.
