Delevic-Djilas said that she expects that the agreement, which will be forwarded to the Serbian government, will be signed on February 7 in Brussels. She added that there is nothing controversial about the document, and it is expected that the two sides in the coalition government will agree upon signing it.
She recalled that the political agreement is based on decisions reached on January 28 at a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
According to Delevic-Djilas, the agreement quite accurately reflects the decision which the ministers of 27 EU countries agreed upon last week, which was to offer Serbia a political framework for overall bilateral relations.
It concerns the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), the opening of dialogue on visa abolition, the intensification of political dialogue and formation of a working group for Serbia to monitor this process and to provide support to Serbia in meeting the conditions required for signing the SAA, said Delevic-Djilas.
She also said that the agreement highlights the fact that Serbia’s ultimate goal is association with the EU in order to get candidate status and finally EU membership.
This agreement is a framework for political dialogue and it does not mention Kosovo-Metohija or its future status, said Delevic-Djilas.
