In an interview to Russia’s state television channel Rossiya, Kostunica stressed that the agreement is by no means a way to settle Serbia’s alleged debt for Russia’s principled support concerning Kosovo-Metohija.
He said that the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Serbia are in common, adding that important economic projects have merely been added to this cooperation, which will bring these two Orthodox Slavic peoples even closer.
Kostunica agreed that there were various forms of pressure concerning the agreement on the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline, but added that the project was difficult to challenge.
In the past several days, Brussels unofficially stated that the more lines delivering energy sources to Europe the better, said Kostunica and recalled that Italy, as an EU member, is also part of that project which is included in the agreement signed in Moscow on January 26.
