In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Samardzic said that crucial events have taken place since the initialing of the SAA on November 7.
On December 14 the EU made decisions which suggested that it will support the independence of Kosovo-Metohija and participate in implementing the plan presented by Ahtisaari for making the province independent, said Samardzic. He added that this turn of events makes it necessary for the Serbian government to amend its position.
He recalled that the Serbian parliament’s Resolution obliges the government to hold a debate on the question of signing the SAA if the EU decides to send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija.
According to Samardzic, this is reason enough for the Serbian government to reexamine the entire matter and to make a special decision before signing the SAA.
In short, without a prior decision by the government the SAA should not be signed between Serbia and the EU, stressed the Minister.
