Serbia, Russia to sign agreement on energy on January 25

Serbian Minister of Infrastructure Velimir Ilic announced today that on behalf of the Serbian government he will sign the agreement on cooperation in the oil and gas industries with the Russian government on January 25 in Moscow.
It is my great honour that the government has shown such confidence in me and authorised me to sign the agreement on its behalf which concerns Serbia’s greatest strategic agreement and the largest investment in Serbia, said Ilic to the Beta news agency.
He also said that the government’s decision to sign the agreement on energy cooperation with Russia is excellent news for Serbia’s economy and its citizens.
The Minister noted that the details of the contract between Serbia and Russia have not yet been specified and added that they will concern the sale of the Serbian oil industry Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), construction of the gas pipe line and completion of the construction of the underground gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor.
At today’s session the government did not discuss the price offered for NIS, stressed Ilic and added that before the agreement is signed, the Serbian government’s negotiating team will harmonise all details regarding the contract with Russia.
