He said that during the past weeks representatives of the Ministry were hosted by the Italian, French and other governments. They also visited the United States, where they discussed this project. The project is planned to be discussed in Japan as well.
Speaking of transportation priorities in 2004, Minister Ilic said that there is a lot of work and a lot of investment.
“We are building 800 kilometres of roads, while reconstruction works are underway on 800 kilometres of road and railway network, we are restoring 36 locomotives, we started the works on railway bridge in Ostruznica, the works on the ring-road near Belgrade have started,” Ilic said, adding that the main railway station in Belgrade will be relocated. He also said that this project would employ 30,000 people.
The minister said that the works on the Belgrade airport are in full swing, announcing that new aircrafts for Jat Airways will be purchased. He also said that the fact that Belgrade was recently declared by the EU a regional centre for air, river, road and railway transport is the consequence of good performance in this year.
