The Serbian Ministry of International Economic Relations has issued a statement, saying that it has submitted a programme on cross-border cooperation among Serbia, Hungary and Romania to the European Commission, adding that a trilateral accord is due to be signed in September.
The Ministry has been in talks with the governments of Hungary and Romania since last June, the statement said, noting that all aspects of cross-border cooperation are described in a joint document which aims to boost economic and cultural cooperation among border regions of Hungary, Romania and Serbia.
The programme will be implemented in Belgrade and Vojvodina, in line with European Union regulations. The first public invitation to tender for projects will be opened in November, the statement said, noting the Ministry will organise seminars for potential project submitters, as well as meetings with prospective partners from Hungary.
Projects can be submitted by public institutions or non-profit organisations from Belgrade and Vojvodina. Only the projects that have been prepared in cooperation with partners from Hungary and which aim to promote development of the two countries’ border region can apply for financial assistance.
