In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Kostunica stressed that Serbia’s arguments against the arrival of an EU mission to Kosovo-Metohija are irrefutable and that it will therefore be very convenient if the EU has given up on the announced decision to illegally send a mission to the southern Serbian province on January 28.
He also recalled that around mid-2007, the question of the EU mission was removed from the agenda because the UN Security Council rejected six proposal resolutions which would have approved the arrival of a mission to implement Ahtisaari’s plan.
No one has the right to send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija which the UN Security Council already rejected, said Kostunica.
According to him, it is very important for Serbia that the EU respects international law and initialled agreements because Serbia entered the EU integration process with a belief that the founding value which the EU is based on is the respect or law.
If the EU decides against sending its mission on January 28, it will be a good and important step in the right direction, stressed the Prime Minister and added that Serbia will always be a good and reliable partner when it comes to respecting international law, and will never accept the creation of a false state on its territory through an EU mission.
