In a statement to the Vienna daily "Standard", Prorokovic said that if one part of the EU acknowledges the independence of Kosovo, it will mean a violation of Serbia’s territorial integrity, to which Belgrade must react.
Unilateral, illegal acknowledgment of Kosovo would not be a friendly act and Serbia would be forced to turn to new strategic partners, that is, states which support its territorial integrity, said Prorokovic.
According to him, all Serbian government ministries have composed action plans which should come into force immediately in case the province declares independence.
Prorokovic recalled that the EU can sign the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) only with states recognised by the UN, and since without Russian and Serbian consent Kosovo will not be recognised by the UN, the European perspective of the southern Serbian province will be brought into question.
Serbia is not the one who is trying to annul the already initialled SAA. The EU will unilaterally give up on the document if certain EU members illegally send a mission to Kosovo-Metohija, recognise the independence of one portion of Serbia’s territory and thus violate its sovereignty, said Prorokovic and added that in that case, he sees no possibilities for Serbia to continue with the EU integration process.
