Serbian Minister of Education Zoran Loncar said today that Serbia requests from the European Union not to send its mission for breaking-up our country if it wants the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) to be signed on January 28.
He told the Beta news agency that the latest announcements by the EU that it will bring up the question of Serbia's cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) again as a condition for signing the SAA do not reflect the real challenges that exist in Serbia's relations with the EU.
According to him, reality is such that it is up to the EU to decide whether it wants to sign the SAA with Serbia, or to send a mission for implementation of the rejected Ahtisaari's plan so that a quasi-state could be made within Serbia.
Loncar underlined that it is obvious that the EU's decision on illegal deployment of a mission in Kosovo-Metohija would be a harsh violation and annulment of the SAA that has been initialled. Such a decision would directly link the issues of Serbia's EU integration and Kosovo status in the worst way possible.
