Serbia wants to join EU but will not give up Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic is visiting Slovenia today and will meet with Slovene President and Foreign Minister, Danilo Türk and Dimitrij Rupel, whom he will inform that Serbia wants to join the EU as soon as possible, but will not give up its sovereignty over Kosovo-Metohija.

In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Jeremic said he will tell them that Serbia is in favour of its own speedy EU integration as well as of the entire region of the Western Balkans and that the key step on that road is the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU.
Having stressed that Serbia appreciates Slovenia’s favourable disposition towards the signing of the SAA, the Minister however pointed out that Serbia will not change its policy towards Kosovo-Metohija.
This policy implies that there can be no violation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, i.e., that it is necessary to determine the future status of Kosovo-Metohija through talks.
