In a statement to the Tanjug news agency, Samardzic stressed it is clear that the EU must now decide whether it wants to sign the agreement with Serbia, or illegally send a mission to create an artificial state called independent Kosovo.
He said that in the legal sense, the EU cannot sign the SAA with Serbia and at the same time send a mission to implement Ahtisaari’s rejected plan to dismember Serbia.
All founding acts which the EU is based on require that it respects international law, as well as the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country with which it signs the SAA, recalled the Minister.
According to Samardzic, this must be valid when it comes to Serbia, unless the EU wants to annul the initialled SAA in order to illegally send its mission to Kosovo-Metohija.
Serbia will respect the SAA to the letter, but the EU must also respect it, which means it must give up sending the mission to the southern Serbian province, concluded Samardzic.
