Samardzic told news agency Tanjug that sending the EU mission to Kosovo would disable the signing and implementation of the SAA.
He stressed that the initialled SAA is based on explicit confirmation of principles of the UN Charter, Helsinki Final Act and UN Security Council Resolution 1244, adding that the EU as contracting party must respect all provisions of this agreement.
I believe that it is very important to make it clear as soon as possible that sending an EU mission would be an illegal act. That mission is envisaged by the plan of Martti Ahtisaari which was rejected, and it is the first step in realising the plan of independent Kosovo-Metohija, the Minister explained.
Samardzic added that the Security Council examined a draft resolution which was supposed to authorise deployment of this mission and that this organisation rejected such a resolution.
Therefore, if the EU chooses to send its mission for creating an independent Kosovo, contrary to the position of the Security Council, that would be the harshest violation of the existing Resolution 1244 and the UN Charter, the Minister for Kosovo-Metohija underlined.
