Samardzic told news agency Tanjug that whatever the scenario of Kosovo status solution will be, Kosovo Serbs will live in their municipalities and implement the Serbian policy in Kosovo-Metohija.
He recalled that the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija established its office in northern Kosovska Mitrovica on December 10, which represents the continuation of work of the office of the Coordinating Centre and the centre of institutional network on local and municipal level, that are supposed to implement orders of the Ministry’s office.
That will be the centre of organised life, collecting means and management with means and control of the whole system, Samardzic said.
According to him, this office and the network of institutions should become stronger and this office should be an efficient mechanism providing for life of Serbs in the province.
That is the most important task, Samardzic stressed and announced that the other task will be to expand the scope of jurisdictions in Kosovo.
He said that the task of the Ministry is international communication and need to search for status solutions.
If the Albanian side is not ready, if Western countries and the EU and the US insist on independence and if they impose independence violently, we will implement our policy in Kosovo the way the state can do it, Samardzic stated.
He said that Serbia will wait for the moment for the international community and Kosovo Albanians to realise that parallelism is no solution and that the status negotiations process will have to be launched sooner or later.
That can happen in a year’s time, in two, three or four years, but the state must be ready, Samardzic said and noted that the Ministry will prepare the grounds for possible additional scenario of talks on the future status of Kosovo.
Speaking on the activities of the Ministry in 2007, Samardzic said that it mainly dealt with organisation of the negotiating process, international communication, contacts with international representatives in Kosovo and the functioning of state in Kosovo.
The Ministry was largely engaged to provide the functioning of Serbian state institutions in Kosovo. The Ministry was occupied with everything that was the state interest for citizens, primarily for Serbs and non-Albanians in Kosovo, in the fields of education, culture, health, social policy, building and development of communal infrastructure, the Minister stressed.
