US block finding a solution to Kosovo status through negotiations

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic said yesterday that the US are the ones who blocked finding a solution for the future status of Kosovo-Metohija through negotiations, not Russia which prevented adoption of a UN Security Council resolution approving the independence of Kosovo.

Samardzic told the Tanjug news agency that the statement of US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Daniel Fried that Kosovo will gain independence outside the UN system because Russia blocked the process of finding a solution in that body, borders with political fantasy.
The truth is very different though. The US and its European allies in the UN Security Council are the ones who blocked the continuation of negotiations and search for a peaceful and lasting solution to the status of Kosovo-Metohija, Samardzic said.
He said that since the US failed to impose their solution to the Security Council, they mercilessly blocked its work on the issue of Kosovo-Metohija and now they are trying to achieve their goal of making Kosovo-Metohija independent.
The Minister for Kosovo-Metohija said that Serbia cannot prevent that by force since it does not have such powerful armed forces, but it will give resistance by political and diplomatic means.
First of all, Serbia will keep its institutions in Kosovo-Metohija and will manage the lives of Serbs and other non-Albanians there. Daniel Fried himself will see that the status of Kosovo-Metohija will finally have to be solved in the UN through negotiations and in a peaceful way, Samardzic concluded.
