Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today that conclusions reached at the EU summit regarding the future status of Kosovo-Metohija are unacceptable for Serbia, as well as the fact that the Serbian province is talked about as if it were a future legal and democratic state.
“It is unacceptable that the illegitimate arrival of an EU mission to the province is discussed so that Ahtisaari’s plan for creating a puppet state may be implemented.
It is unacceptable that negotiations are not continued and violation of the UN Charter and the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 is supported through recognition of a unilateral declaration of independence.
It is unacceptable that the independence of Kosovo-Metohija is discussed as a unique case because unilateral independence cannot be presented as a unique case when in fact it would be the most dangerous precedent made since the Second World War.
It is particularly insulting and unacceptable that the mutilated Serbia is being offered the reward of quicker admission into the EU if it reconciles with violent alteration of its borders.
Serbian parliament will make its stand known regarding conclusions of the EU summit following the Security Council session, when the negotiating team presents its report on the negotiating process, concludes the written statement by the Serbian Prime Minister.
