In a joint press conference with Bujanovac municipality president Nagip Arifi, Sutanovac said that there are no indications that anyone will cause destabilisation of the area, adding that there are no organised groups that could cause violence.
The Defence Minister said that cooperation between civilians and the army is on a very high level and added that the Serbian Army is ready to cede part of its disposable resources to citizens.
He announced that the Army will provide support to citizens in various segments and gave the example of medical care.
Sutanovac, who is on a four-day visit together with Chief of General Staff Major-General Zdravko Ponos to the south of Serbia, said that he wants to find out about conditions of life and work of army members.
Arifi said that he and Sutanovac agreed that the situation in the area is stable and stressed that Albanians from the south of Serbia are dedicated to peace.
The Bujanovac municipality president said that causing destabilisation is not in the interest of local Albanian population.
Sutanovac visited the Golema Cuka military base, approximately one kilometre away from the administrative line with Kosovo-Metohija.
Commander of the 4th Brigade Colonel Milosav Simovic informed Sutanovac that army members have established good cooperation with local Albanian citizens as well as KFOR members.
He stressed that there are problems with illegal chopping of trees, Simovic noted that thefts were prevented thanks to cooperation with police and Gendarmerie and thanks to simultaneous actions with KFOR.
