Kostunica congratulates Kuzmanovic as newly elected Republika Srpska president

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica has congratulated today Rajko Kuzmanovic on his election as President of Republika Srpska, wishing him to perform this high-ranking and responsible duty with a lot of success.

"It is my special satisfaction, on behalf of the Serbian government and my personal behalf, to be able to most sincerely congratulate you on your election as President of Republika Srpska.

The recent elections have once again confirmed firm and resolute position of the Serbian people for the politics of consistent and principled preservation of Republika Srpska.

Republika Srpska came from the historic need of the Serbian people to protect their survival in their hearths, to protect their homes, families, properties, and to preserve their identity, the religion of their ancestors and tradition. With time, it has become clearer for everyone that the Serbian people in Republika Srpska are consistent in their dedication for their objective, which is free life and full progress of Srpska.

Serbia, being the guarantor of the Dayton Peace Accords, is firm in its position that the principles of international law are inviolable and that protection of all rights of the Serbian people, duties and commitments is based on the Dayton Peace Accords.

Republika Srpska, in accordance with the Agreemenet on special and parallel relations of the Republic of Serbia and Republika Srpska, can always count on full support of the Republic of Serbia. I am convinced about the further strengthening of overall relations of Serbia and Republika Srpska, with economic ties taking a special place, to which we will pay special attention during the upcoming progressive period.

I congratulate you on your newly appointed post as Republika Srpska president and I most sincerely wish you a lot of success in performing this high-ranked and responsible duty, the Prime Minister said in the greeting.
