Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said today that the proposal on continuation of negotiations on Kosovo status should not be rejected and said that Serbia will accept that the talks start in any town in the province and then to hold the next round in Belgrade.
Kostunica told Tanjug news agency that Serbia is willing to negotiate and that it is necessary to find a political and democratic solution for the province through new negotiations.
He underlined that Europe looks for solution to every and incomparably smaller problem than Kosovo-Metohija through negotiations and that is inconceivable that someone does not want to negotiate and chooses one-sided solutions.
Serbia shows that it respects international law and rules of the modern world of looking for compromise solutions through negotiations. Responding to all that that there is no need to continue negotiating and that illegal unilateral independence should be the solution is a dangerous experiment with immeasurable consequences, Kostunica said.
According to him, the initiative of Russia as a permanent member of the Security Council to continue the negotiations is a proposal that is in the spirit of the UN basic mission, which is to find a solution in line with law and the UN Charter through talks.
He said that it is of utmost importance that the Security Council supports Russia's proposal. Serbia calls for the continuation of negotiations as the only way for finding a solution and avoiding an immeasurable and lasting crisis, the Serbian Prime Minister said.
