Milosavljevic said that reconstruction has created optimal conditions for work, and besides a new lobby with a reception desk there are several new wards and a centre for preventive health services.
Milosavljevic said that the local community participated in reconstruction works with nearly RSD 2 million, and recalled that during the previous two years a sum of RSD 300 million was invested in the Uzice General Hospital, within the framework of the project for urgent reconstruction of 20 hospitals in Serbia.
The Minister said that a sum worth RSD 280 million was set aside from the NIP for reconstruction of ten health centres in the Zlatibor District.
He said that investments in health are visible, and added that gradually dignity is being restored to health workers since now a surgeon may earn more than a minister.
Milosavljevic said that the Health Ministry plans to provide 1,000 housing loans with fixed interest rate under favourable conditions to health workers during the next year.
Djilas said that in 2008, RSD 2 billion will be set aside from NIP for the health sector in central Serbia and added that major part of these funds will be used to secure equipment for reconstructed health centres.
He stressed that in 2008, the NIP budget will provide RSD 47 billion, which is 2 billion more than this year, and the distribution of these funds will be concentrated on important projects and needs in municipalities.
According to Djilas, two-thirds of funds from the NIP budget are intended for infrastructure – transport, telecommunications and gasification, while the rest will be reserved for health and education projects.
