Jeremic explained that Serbia will use all political, diplomatic, economic and legal means stressed that the Serbian government will not use military power under any circumstances.
Our country will do everything it can to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity, with its future in Europe. we believe that the future of our country is in the EU and we think that such future will be the only way to secure peace and stability in the Western Balkans once and for all, the Minister said.
Serbia is not asking for reintegration of Kosovo in the Serbian system, he said and explained that substantial autonomy means that the province will lead its own affairs, but Serbia has not given up the symbolism of its sovereignty.
We were ready to define that sovereignty in several ways during the negotiations. Our starting position was that Serbia should keep around 45% of prerogatives essentially linked to sovereignty of a state and we said that that was our last offer.
Jeremic also recalled that Belgrade always made new and fresh proposals in a very flexible way, while already at the first meeting Albanians gave the proposal on friendly relations between the two states.
Unfortunately, it is also true that during the negotiating process, some powerful factors which are an integral part of that process, were saying publicly and at the top level that if no compromise was reached by December 10, they would approve the negotiating position of one of the sides – in this case, of Kosovo Albanians, the Foreign Minister said.
