Simic said that there is nothing left for Serbia to do in a situation when someone does not respect the Security Council which is the only institution that has the authority to react when someone threatens with aggression and war, and especially if someone does not respect Chapter 7 of the UN Charter and Resolution 1244 adopted according to it.
He said that the negotiations conducted so far were not realistic and that there is no agreement anymore between Russia and the US on whether they should be continued at all.
Simic explained that the negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo Albanians have amounted to the fact that the Albanians are expecting to be given independence, as the US promised them in 1999.
Independence was not given then because the illegal bombing of Serbia had to be returned to the legal system of the UN, i.e. of the Security Council and Resolution 1244, Simic said and added that now the question is whether it is possible to restore that legality again "on the basis of the so-called actual conditions or an accomplished fact".
