Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic said today that the ministry wants to encourage investment in the Central Banat district, primarily in the construction of a regional water supply system, the Ecka airport, modernisation of roads, and re-launching of production in the Zrenjanin sugar plant.

Ilic also said that agricultural production in the Zrenjanin municipality must also be revamped, because factories have no future without it.
Ilic said that the European Union is interested in building a corridor to the South Adriatic, but on condition that the motorway is linked to the Romanian and Hungarian borders.
He added that the construction of the motorway has already begun between Pancevo and Vrsac and that the road is particularly important to Italy, which has 15,000 firms in Romania.
