Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met with Slovak Foreign Minister Jan Kubis today and stressed that by rejecting Ahtisaari’s plan, Serbia at the same time rejected part of that plan that envisions establishment of EU-administered mission in Kosovo-Metohija.
Kostunica said that this position of Serbia is principle-based bearing in mind that the aim of an EU mission is implementation of monitored independence in accordance with Ahtisaari’s plan and contrary to the valid UN SC Resolution 1244.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Serbia supports continued negotiations on the future organisation of Kosovo under Resolution 1244 and its crucial provisions guaranteeing sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia and providing substantial autonomy for the province.
Kubis said that Slovakia is against unilateral independence of Kosovo and will not recognise any unilateral move, adding that Slovakia supports full respect of UN SC Resolution 1244.
Kostunica and Kubis described relations between the two countries as very good.
