President of the National Council for Cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) Rasim Ljajic met today with ICTY’s Chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte while she is in Belgrade for the last time as tribunal’s chief prosecutor.
Cooperation that refers to submission of documentation and access to archives of state bodies was described as more than satisfactory and both officials agreed that there are no more problems as far as these issues are concerned.
Del Ponte, however, stressed that the major issue that remained open in Serbia’s cooperation with the tribunal is the arrest of remaining indictees. She acknowledged there is certain progress in this part of cooperation too, but at the same time stressed that there are no expected results.
The Chief Prosecutor announced she will submit a report on Serbia’s cooperation with ICTY to the UN Security Council on December 10.
