Serbia blocks adoption of OSCE Ministerial Council’s declaration

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said today that Serbia has blokced the adoption of the final document of the 15th OSCE Ministerial Council in Madrid as this declaration plans continuation of OSCE Mission in Kosovo-Metohija in 2008 regardless of the future status negotiation process.

Jeremic told FoNet news agency that Serbia finds this unaceptable and added that everything related to Kosovo-Metohija must be in accordance with international law and confirmed in the UN Security Council.
He stressed that any participation of international forces or organisations is not acceptable for Serbia if it is not in accordance with UN SC Resolution 1244 or some other, new UN SC resolution.
Without the decision of the UN, there can be no new OSCE Mission nor any other international mission in Kosovo, said Jeremic stressing that Serbia will not give up this position.
Jeremic pointed out that Serbia did not consent to such declaration, which is why the document will not be adopted, the Minister said adding that this is the first time after a long period of time that Serbia is blocking the adoption of a declaration because of its firm and principle-based policy.
