Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Predrag Bubalo opened today the Azira knitwear plant in Backa Palanka. The ceremony was attended by Italian Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Antonio Zanardi Landi and representatives of companies Gruppo Real and Azira Fashion.
The majority owner Gruppo Real makes an annual turnover of €130 million and operates on markets worldwide. Its new facility in Backa Palanka will open 200 new workplaces and introduce new technologies so as to improve the quality of production, reads the statement issued from the Ministry of International Economic Relations.
This plant came as a result of the long cooperation of Gruppo Real with knitwear company Marina. Another production unit which would employ 300 workers is planned to be built by 2007 and will be export-oriented, the statement reads further.
The Serbian government is trying to facilitate investing and business operations of foreign companies in Serbia, which is proven by the action plan adopted by the Ministry of International Economic Relations. The action plan is aimed at removing the obstacles for foreign investments, the statement says.
