Milosavljevic opens fair Ethno Food 2007

Serbian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Slobodan Milosavljevic said today at the opening of the fair Ethno Food 2007 at the Belgrade fairgrounds, that Serbia has great potential in agriculture and this event is a good opportunity to show what Serbia has to offer.
Milosavljevic expressed expectation that the value of agricultural exports of Serbia this year will stand between $1.7 billion and $1.8 billion. He stressed that agriculture is the only branch of economy with surplus in foreign trade which will be more than $700,000 million this year.
He said that it is a fact that food in Serbia is more expensive than it should be, but this year was an exceptionally hard one, due to drought.
According to Milosavljevic, the important thing is to survive this year, renew production and continue in order to increase production, maintain quality and lower prices.
The fair Ethno Food 2007 aims to improve branding and marketing of Serbian food products.
Traditional foods and beverages from all over Serbia will be presented at the fair.
Accompanying events will also be held, including lectures held by representatives of the Agriculture Ministry, to inform exhibitors and visitors on the protection of geographical indications of products, on creating brands and organic food production.
