Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said that all measures of the Serbian government and all action plans prepared in the case that Albanian separatists declare an unilateral independence of the province are to show that Serbia immediately, in action, demonstrates that unilateral independence is void.
Kostunica said in a written statement to the media that the whole of Serbia must be strong and united in showing that for us there is not such thing as illegal and wild formation and that the province of Kosovo-Metohija is unalienable part of Serbia’s territory.
He pointed out that the government of Serbia will annul all unilateral decisions of Albanian separatists and that for all state institutions all Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija will always be Serbian citizens of equal rights.
It is of utmost importance that Serbs remain in the province and that that know that their government and their parliament is in Belgrade, that their state is Serbia, the Serbian Prime Minister said and called on all citizens never to speak on unilateral independence as an independent state.
He said that American or any other recognition of unilateral independence cannot change and turn the lawlessness into a normal and regular thing.
No one can ever take us the right to reject unilateral independence of the province, as it is in accordance with the Serbian Constitution and the UN Charter, and no one can deprive Serbia of the right to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Kostunica stressed.
