Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Slobodan Samardzic commented today on the statement that the international troika of envoys will present in Brussels a proposal on neutral status for Kosovo-Metohija, and said that the southern province cannot have a neutral status in relation to Serbia, since it is an integral and inalienable part of Serbia’s territory.

In a statement to the news agency Tanjug, Samardzic said that Wolfgang Ischinger’s idea of establishing a neutral status for Kosovo-Metohija is founded on the concept of the division of Germany in 1972. He stressed that this idea is in direct opposition to the UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
It is very important that functional relations are established between Serbia and its province Kosovo-Metohija as soon as possible, and prior to this it must be clearly established that the province has autonomous status within Serbia, explained the Minister.
Precisely for that reason, the state negotiating team will show at the upcoming meeting in Brussels on November 20 that there are many examples of substantial autonomies in the world today that are functioning efficiently, the Minister concluded.
