Bubalo said on the occasion that this is a very important event which provides an opportunity to producers of furniture to become acquainted with latest trends in wood industry and assess their ability to compete.
He stressed that wood industry in Serbia is a very important branch of economy and goods worth €101.3 million were imported by producers in this area during the first nine months of 2007.
According to Bubalo, the value of wood industry products during the period from January to October this year was 33% more than the total value of entire exports in the previous year. He added that there still is a deficit in this area, since the real value of exports which furniture producers in Serbia could realise is €350 million.
Bubalo recalled that a lot of private capital was invested in all areas of wood industry in Serbia during the previous few years through the privatisation process, which also led to improvement in production quality.
Nearly 600 exhibitors will present latest trends in production, design and marketing of furniture, as well as machines and tools for wood processing at the fair which will last until November 18.
