The two-day conference is organised within the framework of Serbia’s presidency over the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE) by the Serbian Ministry of Culture together with the CoE.
The Minister said that the EU integration is among Serbian government’s strategic goals and stressed that Serbia attaches great importance to cultural policy.
Culture is the best tool of cooperation, tolerance, reconciliation and peace among peoples, Brajovic stressed.
Brajovic said that Serbia is ready to stand up to the great challenge of creating a common European future by giving its contribution to the culture of dialogue and dialogue of different cultures.
An address letter of Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic was read at this event, who was not able to be present.
Head of the CoE office in Belgrade Denis Huber said that it is a fortunate coincidence that Serbia initialled the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the EU at the end of its chairmanship of the CoE Committee of Ministers.
He said that Serbia's chairmanship was responsible and unbiased, exactly in line with the values proclaimed by the CoE.
The Balkan region is fascinating by its diversity and after 15 turbulent years and the beginning of a period of cooperation, diversity should be viewed as a source of richness, not conflicts, Huber said.
