After the promotional flight today, Serbian Minister without Portfolio Dragan Djilas said that these flights will be very important for connecting the people of Republika Srpska and Serbia, also strengthening economic cooperation.
Djilas said that the authorities of Serbia and Republika Srpska have a good cooperation and that their job is to do more concrete things so that citizens of Serbia and Republika Srpska would be better connected.
Djilas said he can guarantee that flights on this route will last at least three and a half years from now, after which time they will become a regular occurrence and will never be abolished.
The Minister announced that the privatisation process of Jat Airways and finding a strategic partner will be completed within the next six months and that the state will keep its share in Jat Airways so that it remains the national air carrier.
Djilas recalled that Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic suggested yesterday that the state should keep 49% plus two shares in Jat Airways.
According to him, Jat Airways cannot compete with large companies in the European market but can be regional leader.
Jat Airways Director Sasa Vlaisavljevic explained that Belgrade-Banja Luka flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays in the evening whilst return flights will be organised on Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays in the morning.
Vlaisavljevic announced the introduction of fourth flight for Banja Luka in December while as of spring 2008 Jat Airways will fly to Banja Luka every day.
Republika Srpska Minister of Transport and Communications Nedeljko Cubrilovic expressed hope that the introduction of this flight will help promote economic cooperation and closer ties between people living in Serbia and Republika Srpska.
Also present at the promotional flight to Banja Luka were businesspeople and journalists from Serbia.
