Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica warned today in the talks with Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel that recognition of unilateral independence of Kosovo-Metohija would be violent abolishment of Resolution 1244 adopted by the United Nations.
If some state dares to openly confront the authority of the UN and contrary to Resolution 1244 recognise unilateral independence of Kosovo, from that moment there will be no guarantee anymore that UN resolutions must be respected, Kostunica stressed and added that that would mean that policy of force has become stronger than the UN.
The Serbian Prime Minister said that Serbia fully and in advance rejects the unilateral independence of the province as an invalid act of Albanian separatists. That means that Serbia will not recognise any decision and any document that is illegitimate and illegal.
At the same time, Kostunica pointed out that solution for the province must be found within the framework of Resolution 1244 which explicitly guarantees substantial autonomy for the Albanian national minority in the province.
Development of bilateral relations between the two countries was also discussed.
