Serbian Minister of Interior Dragan Jocic told the new students of the Criminal Police Academy that after they finish this school their task will be to protect the security of the state and all its citizens and be responsible towards Serbia and its territorial unity, which is one and undividable.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Criminal Police Academy in Zemun held on the occasion of enrolment of the second generation of students, Jocic said that Serbia will appreciate that and pointed to the importance of implementation of reforms in the Serbian police according to international standards.
Dean of the Academy Slobodan Petrovic said that high-quality education of police officers is in the national interest and voiced satisfaction because of the large number of candidates interested in studying at this Academy.
He said that 1,212 candidates applied for 120 posts at the Academy, of whom over 500 are excellent students.
The Criminal Police Academy was formed by the decision of the Serbian government last year as an independent institution of higher education for applying academic programmes from the field of police and security affairs, and it was made by merging the Post-Secondary School of Interior and the Police Academy.
